**BIOVAC** is one of the leading sterile vaccine manufacturers rooted in Africa, with our core purpose being to "protect life". We are looking to hire a dynamic, passionate, confident, proactive and meticulous HOD: Growth & Technical Services to join a goal-oriented team.

**QUALIFICATIONS NEEDED**:

- Eng., B.Sc. or BTech degree in Mechanical/Mechatronic/Electronic Engineering or equivalent/Bachelors degree or diploma in Biochemistry/ Microbiology/ Bio-technology/Engineering or equivalent.

**NECESSARY EXPERIENCE & INDUSTRY KNOWLEDGE**:

- Minimum 10 years management experience in cGMP vaccine/pharmaceutical manufacturing or similar position.
- Sound experience in project and engineering management.
- Experience in general business management.
- Sound technical ability and hands on approach on qualification activities.

**KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE ROLE**:

- Full accountability for the effective development and execution of the program management office to realise the strategic and operational business benefits.
- Oversee strategic and operational projects and programmes linked but not limited to product development, product pipeline expansion, infrastructure expansion, green field infrastructure and digital transformation/ automation projects.
- Establish and Maintain a Project Management system, including systems and Process for Scoping. Planning, Monitoring and control of delivery, Risk and Issues management, stakeholder Management and communications.
- Provide EXCO with an integrated view of projects to facilitate and prioritise projects.
- Develop, review and present business cases for project approval.
- Ensure projects are properly scoped and resourced with clear and defined deliverables, budget, resource requirements. Negotiating with operational heads for required resources.
- Provide input, training, and guidance in the establishment of Pre-Project proposals.
- Direct Project Management of some of the major projects.
- Budget for Pre-Project Work for Large Projects or Programmes.
- Evaluate and alert on operational risk across Biovac site and advise on mitigation interventions (timeframes and responsibilities).
- Design and present project management metrics for both strategic and operational projects including operational risk.
- Implementing and managing changes and interventions to ensure project goals are achieved.
- Procure contingency resource(s) as and when required for large infrastructure or specific technical projects.
- Provide support and assistance to Project managers to remove barriers to project delivery.
- Manage the operational excellence function to achieve agreed outputs.
- Development and execution of the full Environmental, Health and Safety program in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
- Execution of the manufacturing asset management program.
- Execution of the Reliability Management program.
- Optimal operation and maintenance of all utilities and services.
- Optimal maintenance and availability of all process equipment.
- Full ownership and visibility of all Engineering and EHS metrics.
- Commissioning of all new utilities and process equipment.
- Execution of all planned and unplanned maintenance shutdowns.
- Execution of Engineering specific projects.
- All activities to fully comply with cGMP standards.
- Achieving/ maintaining processes in full compliance with the current regulations and guidelines, both local and international.
- National and international networking to ensure best practice.
