**Job Description**:

- The purpose of this role is to provide general support in the Chemistry laboratory.

**Key responsibilities**:

- Report all incidents within shift.
- Ensure that work area is tidy and safe to work in.
- Attend and participate in green area meetings.
- Perform SLAM and ensure that Continuous Risk Assessment books are signed.
- Participate in inspections monthly together with the SHE representative.
- Maintain ISO Accreditation.
- Perform tasks according to the current Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s).
- Conduct quality checks as required and address checks that fall out of specification by taking necessary action.
- Respond to non-conformances.
- Adhere to PTO schedule.
- Receive samples from customers and check for discrepancies.
- Sort and check samples according to the request forms.
- Supply the laboratories with scheduled/repeat samples.
- Perform sample storage and disposal activities.
- Prepare final products to dispatch to the customers.
- Receive/collect consumables from Stores or Suppliers.
- Store documents and records as required.
- Drive forklift to move samples or consumables to and from the laboratory.
- Carry out other reasonable tasks as per the shift supervisor’s instructions.
- Ensure that consumables are collected from the store timeously so that work is not halted.
- Follow Company Policies and Procedures.

- Matric
- Maths and Science advantageous
- Basic computer literacy
- A valid forklift driver’s licence advantageous

**Role specific knowledge**:

- LIMS operation.
- First level quality control.
- Provides a consistent outstanding role model in relation to safety practices with a deep understanding of the importance of safety.
