RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Lecturing at undergraduate and postgraduate level;
- Academic administration and management;
- Supervising of postgraduate students; and
- Scientific research and publications in accredited academic journals.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

- A relevant doctorate degree in a financial sciences related field and registration with the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants as a Chartered Accountant (SA); OR with the Institute of Internal Auditors as a Certified Internal Auditor;
- Recognised academic status in a broader discipline of finance;
- A proven research and publication record in accredited journals;
- A record of completed students supervision; and
- An established national profile and network.

COMPETENCIES (SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND BEHAVIOURAL ATTRIBUTES):

- Appropriate language and communication skills;
- Computer literacy; and
- Ability to effectively function in a group.
- Relevant knowledge of research methodologies; and
- Skills and knowledge for preparing students for the CA(SA) or CIA examination.

ADDED ADVANTAGES AND PREFERENCES:

- Experience in the facilitation and management of large student groups;
- Experience in blended learning practices;
- Experience in the guidance of postgraduate students’ research;
- Lecturing experience at postgraduate level;
- Publications in accredited academic journals;
- The potential to develop into a scholar in the discipline; and
- Involvement in professional activities where applicable.

The annual remuneration package will be commensurate with the incumbent’s level of appointment, as determined by UP policy guidelines. UP subscribes to the BESTMED and UMVUZO medical aid scheme and contributes 50% of the applicable monthly premium.
