A blue chip national fmcg manufacturer is seeking the expertise of an experienced Maintenance Planner/ Continuous Improvement Specialist. The primary purpose of this role is to systematically plan for the plant maintenance activities by focusing on continuous improvement strategies to enhance plant availability.

The role will include:
Develop maintenance procedures and carry out root cause analysis methods and processes.

Maintenance Planning and Project Planning by establishing maintenance scope of work with engineering and artisans as well as plan for all routine and requested maintenance items and create work orders.

Plan for all routine inspections and replacement as per the OEM guidelines and engineering agreement.

Unplanned Maintenance Monitoring and Management by gathering all unplanned maintenance downtime and compile downtime report, monitor the maintenance of all machines on the plant by overseeing planned and breakdown maintenance continuously.

Responsibility for Purchasing and Spares Management by ensuring that technical descriptions with regards to spares and services are correct and request applicable quotations. Follow up and give feedback to maintenance and management staff regarding spares, lead times, planned schedules, budgets and orders.

Monitor critical and high value spares movement and ensure spares availability with work execution. Also ensure spares used are planned and budgeted for.

Reporting and Administration by giving update to management the status of maintenance planning, budget control and availability of spares and equipment, distribute all Planned Maintenance schedules, compile standby and shift rosters, compile and monitor Machine Downtime Reports (MDR’s) and assist with implementing CMMS and merging site asset information.

The role requires:
National Diploma in Mechanical Engineering and Qualified Mechanical Artisan (Mechanical Trade)

5 to 10 years related experience in production environment, preferably FMCG.

At least five years’ practical experience as an artisan.

Good understanding of TPM, RCM and OEE
