Insurance Analyst/actuary

**Main responsibilities**
- **Policy renewal**: Lead the negotiation of Cargo/Marine & Storage, Political/War, Charterers, Environmental, General Liability, Property and Business Interruption, Directors & Officers, etc.) policies. Determine requirements of each business unit and region, perform statistical analysis to determine appropriate risk retention levels; thoroughly review policy documentation; and implement master and local policies.
- **Policy Execution**: Ensure appropriate policy operation by operational and commercial teams, including declarations; warehouse/vessels vetting and inspections policies; premium verification, allocation, and payment; maintain premium budgeting and tracking file; generate ad-hoc operational summaries.
- **Claims Management**: Ensure a smooth treatment of all claims; coordinate negotiations with legal, and operational teams; evaluate coverage applicability; assist in developing settlement strategies from insurers and third parties (warehouse owners, etc.); report monthly on claims status and KPIs.
- **Stakeholder management**:
Manage relationships with brokers (negotiate broker SLAs) and insurers as well as other external parties (surveyors).

Travel (estimated 2 weeks per year) to improve business knowledge and build a direct relationship with stakeholders.

Conduct training of all internal stakeholders on an annual basis. Have a cross-functional approach to integrate all risk aspects into the analysis: Credit Risk, Compliance (Sanctions, AML, ESG/Sustainability, etc.), and others (Treasury, Legal, etc.).

**Experience**
- 8 or more years’ experience with within: the insurance department of a commodity trading company, or large global underwriter or insurance broker.
- Relevant degree
- Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) certification (Cert CII / DipCII / ACII) - recommended.

**Salary**: From R1,500,000.00 per year
