Job Description:
We are looking for a dedicated professional to join our client’s Systems Engineering Business unit as Lead: Electrical Engineering. Our client is a Commercial and Naval Ship Builder and Ship Repair company. Involved in Marine Engineering, Aerospace and Energy Sectors. This role will be responsible for the cross-functional support between Systems Engineering and other Business Units by determining the technical requirements, defining resource requirements to achieve schedule and budget commitments for all projects. As Electrical Lead you will be required to support the System Engineering Business unit to execute its strategy, ensure compliance, assist in design, equipment selection verification, development of cycle of systems, complex system integration and product support.

Reports to: Head Systems Engineering.
Primary purpose:
This role will be responsible for the cross-functional support between Systems Engineering and other Business Units by determining the technical requirements, defining resource requirements to achieve schedule and budget commitments for all projects. The incumbent will be required to manage all aspects of systems integration, including electronics, communications, master control centre operations, steering and propulsion electronics, power and lighting, all ship diagnostics and control systems that the shipyard projects require, this may also involve MRO requirements. Other aspects of the role include solving all technical issues, developing applicable documentation, and supervising all internal and external resources assigned to all projects.
As Electrical Lead you will be required to support the System Engineering Business unit to execute its strategy, ensure compliance, assist in design, equipment selection verification, development of cycle of systems, complex system integration and product support.
The above mentioned must be executed in accordance with relevant policies, programmes, processes, standards, and procedures, and in alignment with business strategy.

Job description / core competencies:
Monitor deviations, concessions, ECP’s, Departure from Specifications (DFS), and Liaison Action Requests.
Review design drawings, changes, ship specifications, CDRLs, and verify that planned equipment installations and drawings are in accordance with contract requirements
Provide design, technical and readiness support.
Engage with sub-contractors to ensure compliance and management of contract deliverables.
Participate in Availability Planning Conferences, Configuration Control Boards, Risk Boards, Failure Review Boards and Safety Working Groups.
Implementing Electrical standard practices for ship building and projects Manage SHERQ requirements in projects.
Develop and track a project schedule including labour requirements for the project.
Supervise contractors’ efficiency and progress towards meeting the deadlines.
Be familiar with design requirements and installation practises as defined
Checking the basic design layout in accordance with the specification.
Perform technical assessments, analysing and advising on equipment and system issues.
Follow project cost control centres for tracking of resource management
Inspect project location for contract compliance, workmanship and safety.
Review items for technical accuracy, developing technical solutions to hull unique and class issues in coordination with relevant stakeholders

Job Qualification & Experience:
Job requirements:
Minimum of 5 years’ commercial experience in Repair and/or Conversion, Shipbuilding, or Maritime industry
Marine exposure or Equivalent commercial experience.
Shipbuilding exposure would be advantageous.
Experience in the management of complex, multi-stakeholder projects and achieving goals on time within budget and within quality standards.
