**Job Title : Graduate Engineer - Process Improvement**

**Division : SHEQ**

**Department : SHEQ**

**Employment Type : Fix term Contract - Graduate Programme**

**PURPOSE OF THIS POSITION**

To support the SHEQ Department with identifying and developing procedural changes using engineering techniques while ensuring that the Group’s SHEQ Management System is being adhered to and continuously improved upon.

The opportunity arises to make a difference within the SHEQ Department, where innovation, planning and attention to detail will contribute to the well-being of Universal Paper & Plastics.

**Basic Functions**:

- Continuous improvement
- Lead and facilitate 6S activities
- Non-Conformance reporting
- Drive corrective actions
- Implementation of ISO 9001:2015 standards
- Identify new process improvement opportunities
- Innovate ideas and suggestions to improve processes
- OHS compliance
- Routine and non-routine health and safety audits
- Drive behavioural based safety
- Ensure company enforcement with health and safety policies and procedures
- Quality standards
- Communicate with colleagues in order to maintain and improve the SHEQ standards
- Daily observations and internal audits
- Routine and non-routine audits
- Participate in product trials, recording and reporting
- Assist with SHEQ troubleshooting
- Implement measures to reduce the number of customer complaints
- Waste
- Implement measures to reduce waste and scrap
- Ensure compliance with environmental legislature

**EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS**
- Matric
- BTech engineering or related qualification

**REQUIREMENTS - EXPERIENCE**
- Must have entrepreneurial capabilities - striving to continuously improve processes/methods and find new ways/best practices aligned to scope of responsibility
- Ability to take full responsibility and accountability as per scope of work
- Must be highly goal orientated and conscientious individual who takes pride in his/her work
- Excellent verbal, written communication and presentation skills
- Excellent computer skills
- Excellent planning, organizational and time management skills
- Ability to deal with internal and external stakeholders
