Hvac Mechanic

The role is responsible for the service and repair of client air-conditioning and refrigeration equipment.

All duties shall be performed aligned to ensuring compliance to the Quality Management System for the ares of responsibility.

**OVERALL SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITIES**

**Oversight and management of the following key areas**:
**1. Client liaison and Administration**
- Complete documentation for client signature.
- Record client requests.
- Submit requests to Administrative offices.
- Complete and submit technical service records as per company standards
- Complete daily log sheets as per company standards and practices.

**2. Adherence to health and safety standards**
- Responsible for safe working practices, own safety and of that of colleagues
- Use equipment in line with safety practices
- Comply with all applicable standards, policies and procedures, including safety procedures and maintenance of a clean work area.

**3. Performing day to day task as directed**
- Perform necessary checks and testing.
- Repair or replace defective equipment, components or wiring.
- Test pipe or tubing joints and connections for leaks with soap-and-water solution.
- Perform preventive and general maintenance procedures such as cleaning, oiling parts, and changing filters.
- Install and replace and re-asseble components to heating-cooling equipment, such as valves, air ducts, pipes, blowers, dampers folllowing prescriptions.
- Test heating-cooling equipment after service.
- Installation of minor works:

- Installation of split units
- Minor Alterations to plant and equipment
- Duct changes
- Perform all task as aligned in Annexure B: Task Awareness and Competency Areas

**4. Housekeeping**
- Ensure good house keeping
- General site establishment prior to work commences

**JOB REQUIREMENTS**

**Key Relationships: Management, Staff, Client and Suppliers**

**Experience**:

- Minimum 3 - 5 years serving and repairing HVAC equipment inclusive of central plant HVAC;
- Adherence to SLA and contractual terms of service.

**Qualifications**:

- Grade 12 or N3 with Mathematics and Science
- Drivers Licence advantageous

**Knowledge**:

- **HVAC Refrigeration Skills -** Essentials
- **Mechanical - **Basic knowledge of machines and tools
- **Repairing - **Basic repairs and assisting with repairs as per task list.
- **Equipment Maintenance - **Performing routine maintenance on equipment as per task list
- **Active Learning -** Understanding HVAC systems, the various components, Their functions and pro-actively seek out knowledge

- High School (matric) (preferred)

**Experience**:

- HVAC repairing, servicing and central plant: 3 years (preferred)
