My client, a leadig FMCG Company based in Saldanha on the West Coast (about 120km from Cape Town) requires a Trade Tested and experienced Pipe Fitter to join their team.

**JOB PURPOSE**:
To be responsible for all aspects of marine pipe fitting: extraction, maintenance, manufacturing and installation within the fleet and shore operations.

**KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS**: Duties include but will not be limited to:
Extract, overhaul, install and maintain piping systems and valves in accordance with vessel blueprints.

Plan layouts of pipe sections, allowing for conformance to specifications.

Operate shop machinery in accordance with safety regulations to cut and thread pipe and pipe fittings for valves, traps, and thermostats.

Support personnel from any department within the scope of the Trawling Division requiring assistance in maintenance, installation, and production issues.

Ensure work carried out by assigned contractors is satisfactory and that inferior work is reported immediately.

Raise and follow up all corrective action concerning deficiencies during maintenance, installation, and production projects.

**QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE**:
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Prevent wastage of materials used directly and indirectly during the usage and storage of tools, products, and raw materials within the department.

Provide detailed and accurate maintenance reports and documentation to the Workshop Superintendent or his designate.

Maintain a clean and safe work area.

**REQUIREMENTS**:
Grade 12 and Pipe Fitting Trade Certificate.

Minimum of 7 10 years of work experience as Pipe Fitter.

Experience in the Marine Industry will be advantageous. Sound knowledge of plumbing and marine pipe fitting, and intermediate welding experience.

Ability to supervise systems and processes.

Ability to forecast and interpret findings for the maintenance of vessels.

Ability to function independently in decision making and problem solving.

Ability to work in a high-pressure environment.

Ability to prioritize and maintain strong attention to detail.

Ability to maintain good interpersonal skills and to work in a team.

Physical ability to work on board vessels.

Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.

Ability to generate new ideas on a constructive and proactive level.

Implement and maintain safety and hygiene standards
