Rock Drill Operator - Klerksdorp
- **Purpose**:_

A Rock Drill Operator **handles rock-drilling machinery**. They drill holes specifically for explosive charges so that blasting experts can blow up areas of the mine to release the 'rock' or to make tunnels and shafts.
- **Qualifications / Requirements**:_
- Grade 10 Competent B certificate of competency.
- Drill Rig certificate of competency.
- Relevant working experience as a Drill Rig Operator would be advantageous.
- Underground medical certificate of fitness.
- Working knowledge of health and safety procedures, policies and records.
- **Skills and Experience**:_
- 2 to 4 years experience in underground trackless mining.
- **Added Requirements**:_
- Knowledge of applicable laws, standards and specifications.
- Medical fitness test will be required.
- **Duties**:_
- Selects the right size bit for drilling Prepares drilling equipment.
- Makes sure areas is safe to drill in Drills holes for blasting.
- Regulates speed and pressure.
- Monitors drilling operations.
- Follows strict safety regulations.
- Maintains and cleans machinery.
- Maintains service records.
