Enrolled Nurse

**Main purpose of the job**:

- Coordinate the evaluation of recruited participants in the different studies and assist other nurses in their daily work

**Location**:

- **Baragwanath Neonatal Infection Group, Chris Hani Baragwanath, Soweto - Johannesburg**

**Key performance areas**:

- To do study-related duties as specified by the protocol
- Conduct home visits if need be
- Assess and recognize respiratory illnesses in participants
- Compile study progress reports on the number of participants enrolled and activities performed
- Establish a working relationship with clinic nurses/staff
- Follow-up participants who fail to attend their study visits
- Collect specimens from participants
- Ensure that all participants, parents/caregivers have signed informed consent forms
- Attend and resolve queries that are generated by data management staff
- Do proper filing of results and any other study-related documents in the relevant assigned place

**Required minimum education and training**:

- Qualified as an Enrolled Nurse
- Driver’s Licence and ability to drive

**Required minimum work experience**:

- **3 years Experience as an Enrolled Nurse in Neonatology**

**Professional body registration**:

- **Registered with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as an Enrolled Nurse**

**Desirable additional education, work experience, and personal abilities**:

- Ability to lead and work independently as well as be part of a multidisciplinary team.
- A friendly, informal attitude with excellent people skills.
- Ability to speak in local languages.
- Ability to work well under pressure.
- Ability to adapt to changing environments within the project needs.
