Job Description:

- Provide sheet music for all CPO productions and administer/maintain the CPO Music Library.
- Fix broken parts/scores, either using tape or contracting a professional to repair.
- Go through each part and assess the need for printouts to assist with page turns.Source repertoire and search nationally and/or internationally for access to music not housed in the library, whether by loan, hire or purchase
- Provide the Orchestra Manager with the instrumentation requirements of each programmed work so that appropriate numbers of ad hocs can be booked.
- Load into folders in advance of initial rehearsals the required music to be performed and return to library stacks after all performances.
- Communicate effectively with the Conductor, Orchestra Manager, and Concert Master regarding the availability of scores/parts and address any concerns well in advance of first rehearsals.
- Register relevant performances containing works under copyright to SAMRO and manage/renew the annual license.
- Maintain and add to the digital materials archive.
- Maintain the Orchestra Library Catalogue.
- Provide experienced technical and artistic opinion on repertoire when called upon to do so.
- Advise outside clients and occasionally hire or loan material not currently in use by the CPO.
- Create audition packets for orchestra auditions when required.
- Act as custodian of the CPO archive: Recording Archive, Repertoire List, books, CDs, DVDs, concert programme notes and other company documents as necessary.
- Provide music library guidance to the CPO’s Youth Development and Education ensembles (including, but not limited to: the Cape Town Philharmonic Youth Orchestra and the Cape Town Philharmonic Youth Wind Ensemble) when time permits.
- Other relevant tasks may be included from time to time.
- **Required Qualifications**:_
- Tertiary education in music
- In-depth knowledge of classical music and orchestration
- Highly proficient with musical notation, transposition, and indications in the common musical languages
- Experience working in an orchestral environment
- Familiarity with ballet and opera is a plus
- Ability to work in a highly flexible environment and adapt as needed
- Highly proficient time management, organisational, and communication skills
- Familiarity with copyright law, locally and internationally
- Experience with Microsoft, Google, and Adobe (or equivalent) platforms
- Ability to work independently

Pay: R30 000,00 per month

- Diploma (preferred)

**Experience**:

- Orchestra environment: 1 year (preferred)
