**MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB**

The Credit Analyst is mainly responsible for reviewing the Financial Analysis ‘FINAN’ for completeness and correctness, in line with the financial statements presented by the front-line sales teams. The FINAN is a financial statement spreading tool. This may include simple client structures to complex group or consolidated financial statements presented for review.

In addition, the incumbent will be responsible for ensuring that FINAN’s are reviewed and approved on a timely basis, within the set Service Level Agreement timelines and will be required to manage the workflow in cases where resources from other departments provide assistance in the checking and approvals of FINAN’s. The Credit Analyst must work with senior management and colleagues to ensure that the objectives mentioned above are met.

**KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS IN THE ROLE**
- Assume full responsibility for the FINAN review process in accordance with the laid down guidelines for FINAN’s thus ensuring the financial information has been captured:

- In a standardised format
- Capturing and guidelines to be applied consistently.
- Reflect a realistic position from a banking perspective.
- Include all assets, liabilities, contingent liabilities, encumbrances, and any notes that may affect the financial ability of the entity to service and repay their financial commitments.
- Provide support to the Credit and Sales teams.
- Communicate effectively and manage stakeholder expectations.
- Continues stakeholder engagement to build relationships between sales and credit.
- Review the FINAN capture and review process and recommend improvements.
- Ongoing mentoring and/ or training on the completion of the FINAN as required.
- Completion of the minutes of the various meetings internal Credit meetings

**ACCOUNTABILITIES**
- Review and approve the Financial Analysis ‘FINAN’ for completeness and correctness, in line with the financial statements presented This includes:

- The approval of FINAN’s for Trade and Debtor Finance, Capital Equipment Finance, Private Equity, Property, International Treasury, Overdrafts, Revolving Credit Facilities and Equipment Finance (Rentals) as may be required.
- Review the Notes to the FINAN’s to ascertain whether the information is complete and value -add in nature.

Provide support to the Credit team, including:
- Assist the Primary Credit Manager with the routine administration of their relevant portfolios.
- Keep the Sales team updated on tasks that the Credit Analyst is responsible for.
- Provide draft financial commentary and/or questions on reviewed FINAN’s to guide Credit in their assessment of the financial commentary.
- Capture Annual Financial Statements on the FINAN, in cases where information may be complicated or when time permits.
- Ad hoc duties as determined from time to time.

**SKILLS/PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES REQUIRED**
- Ability to assess financial statements in order to review and approve FINAN’s
- Ability to provide supporting commentary in respect of FINAN’s which will add value to the reader of the document.
- Provide feedback and training to preparers of FINAN’s where appropriate.
- Ability to cope in a highly pressurised environment and high volumes of work.
- Computer literate especially with Microsoft Office.
- Must have advanced MS Excel skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills with good communication and conflict management skills.
- Competent in engaging with management, senior management and clients to discuss financial aspects.
- Must have the ability to work independently and to be self-managed.
- Strong administrative skills especially as regards the distribution of work to resources in other areas that will assist with the review and signing off of FINAN’s from time to time.
