Achievement Awards Group (AAGroup) is looking to expand our Infotech team and is seeking the skills of a mid-level Database Administrator who will be responsible for the performance, integrity and security of databases. The position will be involved in the planning and development of the databases, troubleshooting, and defining database technical requirements for solutions and/or projects.
As database administrator you will be responsible for the following:
Formulating solutions and detailed designs for projects and/or any significant change or implementation
Defining the security and access control elements of data where executive level data might be limited to some people and processes
Creating data structures, data management rules and guidelines and ensuring data cleanliness
Working in close collaboration with the Data Architects and Data Scientists to translate business requirements and functional specification into technical solutions for users in the business
Implementing data administration policies and procedures for accessing and using networks, backing up data and recovering lost data
Maintaining documentation in line with standard operating procedures
Processing, cleansing, and verifying the integrity of data used for analysis and build algorithms necessary to find meaningful answers
Implementing technical standards to ensure data security, integrity and validity
Designing and maintaining database management systems
Conducting quality assurance procedures to all changes on the database to ensure efficient and reliable operation of the database
Writing database documentation, including data standards, procedures and definitions for the data dictionary (metadata)
Resolving errors and issues by establishing the cause and taking corrective actions
Providing support to business intelligence (BI) team, including data warehousing, operational, security and technology recommendations
Implementing business continuity solutions for the database environment, including installation, configuration of database software and replication processes.
Cultivate and manage objective working relationships with a variety of stakeholders, including end-users, SME’s, project managers and senior staff members to ensure optimum database performance.

**REQUIREMENTS**:
Minimum of 4-5 years’ experience in database administrator position
Experience installing, configuring, designing, patching, archiving, and monitoring to include performance tuning databases with indexing.
Experience with programming languages such as SQL coding
Experience in administering, managing and tuning databases
Experience with Oracle RAC, SQL servers or MySQL or related
Experience with backup/recovery best practices
Extensive experience with query tuning and troubleshooting
Experience working within agile team formation desirable
Data warehousing
Skills and competency matrix
Data management - developing and implementing plans, policies, and practises that control, protect and optimise the value of data sets
Data modelling and design - developing models and diagrams to represent and communicate data requirements and data assets
Database design - specifying, designing, and maintaining mechanisms for storing and accessing data
Data Engineering - designing, building, operationalising, securing, and monitoring data pipelines and data stores.
Database administration - installing, configuring, monitoring, maintaining, and improving the performance of databases and data stores.
Data visualisation - facilitating understanding of data by displaying concepts, ideas and facts using graphical representations
