Thanda is currently seeking an Impact Manager, who will play a central role within Thanda’s Monitoring & Evaluation team.

The Impact Manager works closely with the Executive Director, consultants and/or other members of the Senior Management team to design appropriate tools (both qualitative and quantitative) to monitor and evaluate Thanda’s various programmes and special projects. He/she then is responsible for overseeing the administration of the tools, and the collection and entry of data (the Impact Manager is supported by various team members who assist with collecting and entering data, however, the Impact Manager holds the responsibility of ensuring quality control, that all assessments are completed, and the data is entered and available).

The Impact Manager is the primary person responsible for data analysis, in particular quantitative analysis. He/she compiles regular internal reports and makes information available to other team members through live dashboards, as well as ensures that the M&E results and statistics are available timeously for use in external reports to donors and funders.

This is a full-time position based in our Administrative office in Hibberdene, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa, and requires regular travel (32 kms) to our rural Community Centre for the day. This position is ideal for someone who lives on, or is willing to relocate to, the beautiful South Coast, or someone who lives within driving distance and is interested in working partially remotely (at least 2 days on-site per week will be required by the role). Thanda was founded in 2008 and is changing the way people see themselves in the rural community of Mtwalume on the South Coast of KZN. Our innovative Early Childhood Development, After-School, Organic Farming, and Creative Learning Programmes work directly with over 2000 individuals daily.

**Core Responsibilities of the Role**:

- Collaborate on research and M&E tool design alongside consultants and Senior Managers
- Oversee the administration of M&E tools by the Impact Team (Data Administrator and Data Capturer), ensuring thorough and timeous execution
- Ensure the integrity of data collected by performing spot checks and visiting sites as needed
- Oversee data collection and data entry, assist when necessary
- Clean data for analysis
- Analyse data and compile regular internal reports
- Ensure that data collected on-site and results of the analysis are accessible to Management and Support Team through live dashboards and reports
- Ensure that specific M&E required by donors and partners is available for external reporting purposes
- Work collaboratively with Senior Managers to provide tailored data and analysis that they might request
- Provide Feedback on M&E results to programme staff on a regular basis
- Oversee and coordinate additional studies and special projects as directed by the Executive Director
- Assist with administrative and other tasks as delegated by the Executive Director and/or Senior Managers

**Qualifications**:

- Master’s Degree; OR
- Bachelor’s Degree with at least one year’s experience in research and/or monitoring and evaluation.

**Required Skills, Experience and Attitude**:

- Good understanding of quantitative research methods
- Experience in conducting research (either quantitative OR qualitative)
- Knowledge and understanding of Monitoring and Evaluation Frameworks
- One to six years of professional work experience
- Good writing skills
- Excellent analytical skills
- An eye for quality control - ability to see where systems need to be tightened or improved
- Ability to oversee the work of the Impact team (data capturers, administrators, assistants)
- High levels of accuracy and attention to detail
- Excellent organisational and coordination skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to handle diverse and sometimes demanding workload
- Willingness to enter data when necessary
- Ability to meet deadlines
- High level of Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Ability to use statistical software preferred
- Willingness to learn new skills
- Passion for development and community work
- Fluency in English (required) and Zulu (preferred)
- Drivers licence
