MalaMala Game Reserve is currently looking for a qualified and experienced PSIRA registered Anti
- poaching Sergeant with a good work ethic to live amongst and manage Big 5 animal encounters. The successful incumbent will form part of a 6-week work and 2 weeks leave cycle.

**Qualifications and Experience**
- Matric
- Must Have PSIRA grade B
- No criminal record and submit a Valid Police Clearance Certificate.
- Must be in possession of a valid South African Driving License and PrDP
- Must have at least two years’ experience as an Anti-Poaching Sergeant or Corporal. (Accompanied by Team Leader Certification)
- NQF Level 1
- CITT Tracing Course or similar Certification is essential
- Weapons competencies for business use are essential in three categories
- Shotgun
- Handgun
- Self-loading Rifle
- Must have a firm knowledge of bush craft (Animal behaviour, Navigation, Man and Animal Tracking)
- Valid tracking experience and certification is beneficial.
- First aid level 1
- English literacy level: Must have an excellent command of the English language including reading, writing, and speaking.
- Computer literacy (Word, Excel and PowerPoint) is essential

**Duties and Responsibilities**
- Following and adhering to all company and additional global Anti-Poaching policies.
- Be compliant in all Psira Regulated policies and adhere to Psira Code of Conduct
- Be compliant and familiar with the JMC Instrument policies on transboundary safety and security

traversing.
- Work on rotational bases between Anti-Poaching camps on MalaMala Game Reserve.
- Due to the nature of the work and the high level of security awareness and restrictions, there will

be periods where the Sergeant will not be permitted to carry a personal cell phone or camera.
- To work in team format and this includes all daily tasks.
- Report in his chain of command to the Anti-Poaching department corporal or Anti-Poaching

officer for all operational matters.
- Assist the APU Officer in deployment tasks, response and logístical support to field teams.
- Be active during day patrols checking perimeters and stealth cameras, evening patrols will be

rotated between the sergeant and corporal daily.
- The sergeant will be the relieve of the APU Officer in his absence in a supervisory role only
- Maintain a high level of cleanliness and tidiness as the environment can be hostile in the terms of

bacterial and viral medical conditions. (As required per PSIRA Grade E)
- General APU Sergeant roles
- Daily Roll Call
- Day/Night patrols. 24/7 standby (training and patrols)
- Daily Listening posts.
- Be prepared for regular inspections
- Ensuring overall cleanliness and upkeep
- Radio procedures
- APU vehicle control
