**Duties**:

- Manage the Safety Improvement Programme (SIP), reviewing suggestions, investigating viability, and making recommendations on those that could be implemented.
- Ensure that SHEQ inspections are conducted, review findings and hazard reports, and ensure remedial action.
- Develop SHEQ induction training material, and conduct and coordinate SHE inductions for employees, contractors, and visitors in line with standard operating procedure.
- Ensure the accurate creation and maintenance of Safety files - Process Level Line and Contractor - and conduct internal audits to ensure compliance with regulations and procedures
- Develop PPE and equipment training material for employees to ensure safe operation, and ensure training campaigns have been executed.
- Remain updated on trends, participate in Industry Safety forums, and make recommendations to the reporting Manager /factory engineer.
- Responsible for Risk Assessments, data & trend analysis, generate reports with proposed remedial action.
- Gives input into the Strategic Safety Plan.
- Responsible for monitoring and maintenance of emergency equipment.
- Handle escalated queries from Process Safety Meetings, conduct investigations and provide resolution.
- Develop the OHS training and awareness campaign material, conducting and coordinating training on specific safety topics as identified.
- Conduct Accident and Incident investigations and determine remedial action required. Follow-up to ensure actions taken and close-out report.
- Prepare Accident and Incident reports, liaising with Department of Employment & Labour, ensuring full compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Ensure that Safe Operating Procedures (SOP) have been accurately documented.
- Ensure environmental compliance requirements are met.
- Ensure accurate recordkeeping, submit accurate reports, in the agreed format, on time.
- Ensure compliance with standard operating policies and procedures (including quality controls).
- Establish and drive One Bell culture, values, vision, and mission.
- Ensure compliance with the code of good practice and disciplinary policy and procedures.
- Manage employee relationship to drive engagement and motivation.

**REQUIREMENTS**:

- National Diploma in Safety Management
- Min 5 years’ experience as a SHEQ Officer
- Must have Occupational Health & Safety certification, SAMTRAC, SHEMTRAC or NEBOSH
- Train the Trainer (advantageous)
- Registration with the South African Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (SAIOSH) (Advantageous)
- First aid Certificate (Advantageous)
