PURPOSE

To improve, coordinate and monitor the Company's Environment, Health, and Safety management systems. The position provides guidance, facilitation and support to Belgotex employees to enable the Company and its Contractors to comply with the requirements the SHE management systems. These systems focus on legal compliance, risk management and improved performance with regards to our SHE responsibilities and impacts.

QUALIFICATIONS
- Grade 12 / Matric.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Guiding, monitoring, and continual improvement of our SHE Management Systems and their related documents and records (Belgotex SHE Management systems meet the requirements of ISO 14001:2015 and ISO 45001:2018).
- Developing and co-ordinating a full circle communication and engagement plan with regards to key safety, health and environmental requirements and issues for the business. Engaging with staff, contractors, and other relevant parties with respect to SHE matters related to the site.
- Planning, facilitating and conducting internal audits for ISO 45001 and ISO 14001.
- Ensuring that employees, contractors, and site visitors receive SHE induction and that Safety files are in place with all relevant applicable records and documents when necessary.
- Planning of quarterly SHE Committee Meetings (plan, schedule, and review) and taking minutes as documented information.
- Facilitating and co-ordinating all stakeholders in the investigation of complaints, near misses, incidents or accidents, provide input into corrective and preventative actions, and the reporting of incidents and accidents.
- Preparing SHE reports, recording data and statistics and conducting presentations related the monitoring and performance of SHE leading and lagging indicators.
- Ensuring regular emergency response exercises and drills are conducted to ensure the highest level of preparedness in any emergency. Maintain records of such drills, providing recommendations for emergency response improvements.
- Providing SHE training, awareness and induction on site to staff, contractors and other relevant parties
- Assisting the SHEQ Specialist and Production Managers in the development and implementing of an emergency response procedure and evacuation plans on site and at our offices and DCs. Ensure that these plans are reviewed and updated regularly.
- Assisting in establishing management system Standards, Procedures and work instruction for tasks as and when required.
- Keeping SHE registers up to date, including renewals of permits, licenses, surveys etc.
- Maintaining and updating all relevant SHE department administrative folders.
- Provide expertise and guidance which will embed an approach to safety which encourages safe working practices at the floor level.
- Coordinating ISO 45001, ISO14001 and SMETA Audits.
- Working on SHE improvement projects with relevant team members and departments, and ensuring records are maintained.
- Participating in and/or facilitating supplier SHE audits eg waste contractors.

REQUIREMENTS

Knowledge and skill
- Previous experience of implementation, maintaining and auditing ISO systems (ISO 45001 and ISO 14001).
- Knowledge of relevant legal requirements related to SHE eg the OHS Act and Regulations, NEMA, NEM: Waste Act etc
- Knowledge of hazard identification and risk assessment processes and practices
- Knowledge of SHE management systems eg ISO 45001 and 14001 (Implementation and internal auditing) is preferable
- Incident Investigation training or experience is preferable
- Experience in engaging with different stakeholders, providing training (preferably on the job training) as well as facilitating meetings/ knowledge sharing opportunities
