**Job Desciption**:
ITB Flexible Packaging Solutions (ITB) is a flexible plastic packaging manufacturer and part of the Novus Holdings Group. ITB produces an array packaging for the FMCG and food markets. Its products include retail bags, security bags, FFS food packaging, heavy duty sacks and carrier bags which are distributed across South Africa and abroad.

**Key Duties and Responsibilities**:

- Request job cards from the Production planner as printed substrate becomes available according to the printing schedule.
- Ensure that all laminating material has cured before slitting.
- Load roll onto the machine and record reference number of the parent roll on the slitting production sheet.
- Proceed to set the job, as per job card, on the machine.
- Run a few metres and inspect the roll for all requirements as detailed on the job card.
- Inspect every roll after running a few metres for slit width, edge weave and alignment of cores in accordance with QP11 “Measurement, Analysis and Improvement.
- All scrap material must be placed in a plastic bag and a completed scrap label attached.
- For all formed, filled and sealed work (FFS) prepare 1 sample from every roll consisting of two print repeats. Complete an adhesive label, affix to sample and forward to the Quality Assurance Technician for inspection
- Ensure that all emergency and safety devices are available and functional.
- Comply with all ITB’s policies including but not limited to Health and Safety, General Workplace policies, Quality and Food Packaging safety and standard operating procedures.

**Educational Requirements**:

- Have completed Matric (Grade 12) or equivalent with computer knowledge.

**Experience Requirements**:

- Have a fair knowledge of ISO 9001: 2001 Quality standards
- At least 2 years’ experience in the plastic industry (packaging)
- At least 1-year experience as a Slitting Operator

**Skills and Competencies**:

- Ability to set up and operate a Slitting machine within the acceptable time frame.
- Understanding of unwind charts.
- Ability to load rolls on to the machine.
- Ability to move the rolls to the roll stand.
- Knowledge of ISO 9001:2001
- Ability to read, write and communicate in English.
