Perishable Specialist

A large retail group is looking for a dynamic and skilled individual to take upon the role as a Perishables Specialist for our Johannesburg division
Purpose: to effectively manage Perishables Managers/Controllers at store level and purchase Perishables stock on a group scale.
**Essential Duties and Responsibilities**
- Lead a team of Perishables Managers/Controllers that are store based; conduct meetings and enforces discipline.
- Negotiate pricing with suppliers to ensure that we are competitive, buying of products; determines the replenishment requirements.
- Manager and track stock on a weekly basis
- Analysis of reports to understand setbacks as well as growth factors.
- Determine areas for improvement and institute changes to address concerns, ensure that the range is effective for that store.
- Minimize out-of-stock and overstock to ensure fresh merchandise.
- Control department expenses by enhancing operations, meet budgeted goals and control shrinkage and wastage
- Communicate with stores to design marketing plans (advertising) to achieve profits.
- Ensure that managers are stocked for promotions
- Ensure that managers/controllers are exercising disciplines in controlling and monitoring shrinkage and wastage levels
- Ensure that manager/controllers are exercising health and hygiene levels in their departments at store levels.
- General Admin; spot checking invoice pricing
**Requirements**:
- Grade 12 (Matric)
- At least 2 years’ experience as a Perishables Buyer OR
- At least 5 year experience as a Perishables Manager looking for growth
- Proficient in MS Office Applications.
- EXPERIENCE IN THE RETAIL INDUSTRY IS ESSENTIAL FOR THIS POSITION
