Applications are invited for the **Splicer **position to be based in **(East London / Eastern region)**
**PURPOSE OF THE ROLE**:
The Splicer is responsible to perform maintenance on the network.
**Key Performance Areas would include, but are not limited to**:
- Splicing of active and passive fibre networks.
- Identify breaks and weak spots in the network seen as high-risk factors.
- Remediate cutting over of cables and/or cutting over to new joints.
- Maintain short timelines between temporary and permanent repairs.
- Resolve all breaks in the designated areas.
- Maintain handle and route daily, which could include cleaning, numbering, slack management, and labelling.
- Related training and experience with Fibre Optics.
- Good communication skills.
- Ready to learn and work independently.
- Problem solving skills.
- Ability to read and troubleshoot complex diagrams.
- At least 3 years technical experience or technical experience within a telecommunications environment.
- 1 year technical experience in an optical fibre environment would be advantageous.
- Advanced experience in splicing in complex network environments.
- Valid drivers' license.
- Strong analytical ability.
- Ability to work well under pressure to achieve goals and targets.
- Self-motivation and a strong sense of achievement to take ownership of a network is of utmost importance.
**Education Requirements**:
- IT Network Diploma, Certificate or related Degree would be advantageous.
- Grade 12 or a Technical N1 - N3 is required.
- Certified Fibre Optic Technician Certificate (CFOT) would be advantageous.
- Related qualifications in telecommunications would be an additional advantage.
