**INDEPENDENT CONTRACTOR (FLEXI HOURS)**

This role will be required to work with the Project Lead to perform X-ray examination of research participants according to relevant protocols, security measures and standards of hygiene and privacy in order to contribute to the research as well as assisting with the relevant administrative duties.

**Requirements**:

- A Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Diagnostic Radiography with an active registration with HPCSA
- At least 3 years’ experience, preferably in digital imaging system
- Knowledge of HIV and TB
- Willingness to work in a high-burden TB communities
- Knowledge of study protocols / regulations
- Valid driver’s license and own transport
- Excellent Computer Literacy: Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook Express
- Strong planning and organising ability
- Strong communication skills (verbal and written)
- Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to work well under pressure and to maintain effectiveness during changing conditions
- Ability to work harmoniously with people of diverse backgrounds and sexuality.

- Maintaining strict client confidentiality

**Advantageous**:

- Experience of working in Masiphumelele (or similar) community-based environment
- Speak IsiXhosa
- GCP (Good Clinical Practice) certification

**Responsibilities**:

- Manage the scheduled screening, consenting, enrolment and follow-up of participants
- Prepare participant prior to scanning
- Complete the necessary pre-screening questionnaire with participants
- Adhere to all radiation and infection safety regulations
- Ensure participants comfort and safety
- Ensure participants details are logged and recorded correctly in the scanning log book
- Ensure that all escorts are compliant with radiation and infection safety regulations
- Cleaning of machine
- Perform scans of participants
- Take necessary precautions to minimize motion artifacts
- Assure compliance with all elements of the study protocols
- Monitor data quality throughout the scan
- Advise and consult with the PI on quality control of images
- Transfer and archive scans to the data base system.
- Perform QA test to ensure good image quality
- Proper handling and storage of all equipment
- Reporting equipment faults to the PI and Technical officer promptly
- Assist with general admin duties
- Record keeping, data capture, filing
- Any other responsible duties that are specified by the PI
- Assist with training site personal involved with participants as well as the technical officer
- Activity engages with researchers to understand details and specific needs and requirements of each study.
- Adhere to all elements of study protocols
- Involvement/assistance with ad hoc projects to examine influences on data quality
