The Barman is responsible for providing high-quality beverage service to hotel guests, ensuring an enjoyable experience. This role involves preparing and serving drinks, maintaining the bar area, and offering excellent customer service. A successful Barman creates a welcoming atmosphere, builds rapport with guests, and ensures compliance with safety and hygiene standards.

**Key Responsibilities:Beverage Preparation and Service**:

- Prepare and serve a wide variety of beverages, including cocktails, mocktails, beers, wines, and spirits, according to standardized recipes.
- Assist guests with drink selection and make recommendations based on preferences.
- Maintain an in-depth knowledge of drink menus and current promotions.
- Monitor and ensure the quality and presentation of drinks meet hotel standards.
- Replenish bar stock, including garnishes, ice, glassware, and alcohol inventory.

**Customer Service**:

- Greet and engage guests in a friendly, professional manner.
- Build positive relationships with guests to enhance their overall experience.
- Handle guest complaints and inquiries in a calm and courteous manner, escalating issues when necessary.
- Ensure guests’ needs are met promptly, providing exceptional service at all times.

**Bar Maintenance**:

- Keep the bar area clean and organized, including wiping down counters, washing glassware, and disposing of waste.
- Follow daily opening and closing procedures, ensuring the bar is ready for service.
- Monitor stock levels and report any shortages to management.
- Adhere to hotel and legal regulations regarding liquor licenses, responsible alcohol service, and hygiene standards.

**Health, Safety, and Hygiene**:

- Maintain strict cleanliness and sanitation standards in line with health regulations.
- Ensure compliance with fire, safety, and licensing regulations at all times.
- Monitor the condition of bar equipment and report any maintenance needs.

**Operational Support**:

- Assist with setting up the bar for special events or functions.
- Work closely with other departments (e.g., kitchen, front office) to coordinate service and ensure a seamless guest experience.
- Process transactions accurately, handle cash, and manage tabs, ensuring that all bills are properly charged.

**Required Skills and Qualifications**:

- Matric; additional certification in bartending or hospitality is a plus.
- Proven experience as a Barman or in a similar role within a hotel or restaurant setting.
- Strong knowledge of beverage preparation, mixology, and drink trends.
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- Ability to stand and work for extended periods.
- Good understanding of responsible alcohol service and safety protocols.
- Basic math skills for handling and processing payments.
- Flexibility to work shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
