Our client in the Automotive Industry has an opportunity available for a Fitter in the Production - Press Shop in Kariega.

**Job Description and Responsibilities**:

- Correcting various Mechanical, faults on machines in order to ensure production continuity.
- Assessing breakdowns and develop alternative solutions to prevent re-occurrences.
- Ensuring machine availability, safety, accuracy and performance for continuous production within area of responsibility.
- Planning and developing modifications for conventional equipment on various machines in order to reduce maintenance costs.
- Supporting production with new facility installations and commissioning to ensure proper functionality.
- Resolve robotic faults to prevent problems and ensure uninterrupted production process.
- Analysing and solve mechanical problems.
- Execute improvement projects in Press Shop.
- The position is labour intensive and will involve stripping and assembling of presses.
- To perform Planned and Preventative maintenance activities during production hours as well as on weekends.
- Participate in on the job training with maintenance personnel.
- Compile and write work instructions for equipment.(how to documentation)
- Be able to upgrade existing systems and equipment to latest technology levels to improve productivity.

**Education and Experience**:

- National Diploma in Engineering (Mechanical) - Mechanical trade test will be advantageous.
- Minimum 3-5 years’ relevant mechanical experience in the Press/Automotive maintenance environment.

**Skills, Attributes & Other Requirements**

**ESSENTIAL**:

- Ability to analyze and correct any deviation of machine performance from the manufactures specification
- Ability to perform under pressure.
- Mechanical experience is essential. (Clutches, gearboxes. hydraulic systems, pneumatics.)
- Able read mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic drawings.
- Robotic experience is advantages
- Be a driven, self-starter, have the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Be methodical, organized and thorough.
- Be able to work in confined spaces & work at heights.
- Good communication skills.
- Be prepared to work shifts, weekends and overtime on short notice.
- Computer skills (MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
- Press shop experience would be an added advantage
