A sanitary pad manufacturing company is looking for a supervisor who will ensure production and business efficiency by communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results; coaching, and mentoring employees.

**Duties include**:
**Production management**
- Ensures final product and WIP products adheres to job card specifications
- Communicates to teams the volume required to complete the order and drives production
- Ensure teams (Operators and packers) are aware of their shift targets (eg: 3 pallets per shift / 120 boxes per shift)
- Provides reasons if shift targets are not met and actions to address problems encountered
- Supervisors to assist Production manager in determining reasonable and stretched targets for production based on machine functionality
- Ensure the efficient use of raw materials and time management: Reduced wastage and increased productivity
- Minimise waste produced during start up and operational use of machinery
- Sign off on all waste for department and ensure it has been recorded correctly
- Ensure quality checks are done correctly and regularly (adhere to quality testing methodology)
- If poor quality, the machinery is adjusted and reset to correct the poor quality
- In the case of a breakdown / technical fault: Report to floor manager / supervisor and determine if the team must go home / assist in another department until resolved
- Understand the potential problems of the machinery and knowledge of how to correct it
- Ensure that teams record and measure waste / spoils correctly
- Ensure that all raw materials are accounted for before disposal of waste
- Ensure that waste is disposed of in the manner prescribed by Azapak policies and procedures
- Manage and prioritize production processes and implement production plans
- Ensure feedback is given to management and production officer
- Ensure daily and weekly targets are met, if not provide reasons for low production

**Training of team members / Training plan**
- Ensure all team members are aware of their role within the team and what is required of that role (deliverables are clear and direct)
- Ensure that all staff follow the departmental rules (ISO standard / BRC standards)
- Ensure team members receive the relevant training and that a training register has been signed
- New employees must be given an induction which includes (ISO and BRC standards, Hygiene in the workplace, and an introduction to the business)
- Constructive criticism is given to the teams and areas of weakness are corrected
- Critical roles within the team have a back-up / support network
- Ensure critical roles have +1 employee(s) trained in the role

**Machinery / Maintenance**
- Work with machinery / near moving machinery
- Report any breakdowns / problems to the Supervisor
- Assess quality of product to ensure there are mechanical / technical problems with the machinery
- Clean machine and general work area after every shift
- Machinery is cleaned as per instruction manual or as advised by engineering and maintenance team

**Supplies control**
- Ensure the team has all the necessary tools to complete the job (scissors / tape / boxes). Ensure sufficient supplies for 2 shifts - 24 hours
- Ensure that the Factory floor supervisor is aware of low supplies (Establish re-order levels within teams) and that an order has been placed to replenish stock

**Accreditations and Health and Safety**
- Supervisors must be knowledgeable about potential or actual health and safety hazards in the workplace and advise team members about these hazards.
- Supervisors must provide information, instruction and supervision to a worker to protect the health and safety of the employee
- Supervisors must ensure that team members utilise the correct equipment, material and protective devices required by regulation when operating machinery / fulfilling their duties
- Supervisors must ensure that all hazardous materials present in the workplace are identified and labelled in the manner prescribed by regulations
- Supervisors must ensure that workers exposed to hazardous material / physical agents receive and participate in prescribed instruction and training

**Advocate for the company and employees**
- Supervisor to inform employees about new policies and changes to work times / structures
- Supervisors to drive changes in the policies throughout their departments
- Supervisor is also responsible to represent the employee’s requests to management

**Human Resources**
- Maintain / Analyse attendance of team members
- Induction program for new employees
- Train all team members on their roles
- Vacation schedule (if necessary)
- Analyse staff requirements and ensure efficient compliance to production schedules and budget for all production processes
