**Description**:
The Health and Safety Officer, which reports to the HR Manager, is responsible for ensuring compliance with relevant health and safety legislation which includes identifying OHS-related training needs in the workplace. Co-ordinate the development of health & safety policies and procedures.

The Health and Safety Officer’s duties include, but are not limited to:

- Ensure compliance with the OHS Act;
- Establish and coordinate OHS Committees;
- Ensure the development and adherence to OHS policy and procedures;
- Raise management and staff awareness of safety accountabilities and responsibilities;
- Identify and test work areas for potential accident and health hazards;
- Facilitate the investigation of accidents and unsafe work conditions, study possible causes and recommended remedial action;
- Plan and coordinate emergency procedures;
- Form part and conduct audits;
- Facilitate and make recommendations at monthly OHS meetings;
- Document staff information, minutes of meetings, and reports compiled for management;
- Compile and maintain relevant registers to ensure compliance;
- Regularly inspect equipment;
- Work with various department leaders, conduct health and safety induction with all new employees, contractors, as part of the induction process, and ensure all documents are filed.

- 2- 3 years working safety experience
- Have a sound understanding of organisational behaviour
