DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES

Rendering A Professional Ultrasound Service To Patients, As Well As Referring Clinicians
- Ensure the optimal use of all relevant equipment available in the Section;
- Ensure the competent execution of relevant ultrasound procedures and/or protocol;
- Ensure high quality ultrasound imaging;
- Ensure a quality and professional ultrasound service to patients and referring clinicians. Promote the image of the Practice as a professional provider of medical imaging services.
- Maintain an optimal workflow in the department.
- Ensure that standards are upheld in respect of training;
- Demonstrate a thorough understanding of available ultrasound equipment;
- Identify and interpret error flags associated with the equipment and take appropriate corrective action;
- Handle and use all available equipment in the section in an accurate and professional manner;
- Receive patients in an effective & professional manner and verify the patient details;
- Prepare the patient for the procedure to be carried out;
- Communicate the procedure to the patient in an effective manner;
- Position the patient in a correct and accurate way prior to any procedure being carried out;
- Perform examination duties.

Perform Administrative Duties
- Maintain patient and radiologists’ satisfaction with quality of service rendered to them and adhere to quality standards;
- Promote the image of the practice as a provider of professional imaging services.
- Bookings
- Check job card information for accuracy and do necessary changes on RIS.
- Check information on the workstation.
- Finalise imaging and send to server;
- Take control of the in-hospital patient list.
- Listing of bookings according to instructions from hospital wards.

Maintain Continuous Professional Development
- Maintain professional knowledge of Ultrasound;
- Render optimal and professional ultrasound service to patients;

- Attend relevant tutorials, workshops and other training interventions, including conferences (where possible) and in-house training.

- Relate well and interact with all patients in a professional, yet assertive manner;
