**About the role**

Steltix South Africa seeks a highly motivated **Oracle Database Administrator** to join our growing team.

As a Database Administrator, you will be responsible for the management, administration, and optimisation of Oracle and SQL Server databases. Your main responsibility will be to ensure that these databases are always available, secure, and performing optimally. You will work closely with the technical and development teams to ensure smooth database operations. Strong technical, analytical, and communication skills are essential for this role.

**What we are looking for**

We seek an experienced Database Administrator to provide expert-level support and administration for database systems. You will play a critical role in maintaining and improving database infrastructure, ensuring data integrity, and implementing best practices for database management.

Additionally, you will collaborate with other teams, including sales and development, to provide valuable insights and intelligence-related database operations.

**Technical Requirements**

**Essential Qualifications and Experience**:

- Proficiency in Oracle Database administration and management.
- Some proficiency in SQL Server will be advantageous.
- Knowledge of Operating Systems, including Linux and Windows.
- Understanding of networking principles.
- Familiarity with development tools and methodologies.
- Previous experience working on database projects and providing technical support.
- Possession of a valid driver's license.
- Preferably holds a tertiary qualification or equivalent experience.

**Responsibilities**:

- Managing and administering databases to ensure availability, security, and performance.
- Ensuring the integrity of backup strategies and participating in Disaster Recovery Exercises.
- Conducting regular quality monitoring and addressing any issues proactively.
- Collaborating with technical and development teams to optimise database performance and efficiency.
- Providing support for database-related projects and initiatives.
- Consulting with key stakeholders to understand business objectives and requirements.
- Documenting and maintaining detailed specifications and requirements for database environments.
- Ensuring compliance with regulatory and reporting requirements.
- Achieving relevant certifications.
