Purpose:
To ensure that corporate tax legislation is complied with so that there is accurate Tax reporting in line with the Tax policies and procedures and ensuring risks and opportunities are identified.

**Duties**:
Provide accurate month-end and year-end consolidated financial reporting of current tax and deferred tax. Also follow up and liaise with Group Tax to resolve any outstanding queries.

Responsible for all tax matters audited by internal and external Auditors.

Manage internal and external audit throughout the audit process to ensure that the process is effective and efficient.

Follow-up any tax-related issues in the external audit management letter or in the internal control reports and ensure that they are dealt with promptly and in a satisfactory manner.

Responsible for ensuring divisional compliance with the Customs Act by assisting in developing and updating appropriate policies and procedures in conjunction with Group Tax.

Arrange workshops and provide training on the policies and procedures for the business, provide technical updates on any relevant issues that may arise and ensure that the tax compliance requirements are properly explained and understood.

Responsible for monitoring and evaluation of the effectiveness of Customs controls by managing Customers Champions.

Serve as the liaison between Group Taxation and overall responsibility for implementing Tax policies and procedures at a divisional level.

Responsible for completion and submission of consolidated income tax return in respect of the annual tax return.

Responsible for completion and submission of consolidated VAT return in respect of the monthly VAT return (VAT 201), ensuring that the vat principles have been correctly applied. Also follow up and liaise with Group Tax to ensure the resolve any outstanding queries.

Qualifications and Experience:
Charted Accountant (South Africa)

6 -8 years’ experience in a similar environment at a management level.

Knowledge of Income Tax, VAT and Customs & Excise Acts, Companies Act and Public Finance Management Act

Knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (specifically Deferred Tax Standard)

SAP AA and FI modules

Auditing procedures

Experience in performing current and deferred tax calculations, VAT returns

Attention to detail

Ability to work to tight deadlines in a highly pressurized environment
