We are looking for an Estimator (Industrial engineer) with cost reduction; and optimization/understanding, Alberton
- We are looking for a specific person, someone that has a passion for prices, costs of materials, understanding the vendor market, competitor analyses, looking for technical knowledge growth (for both mechanical and electrical components), computing numbers quickly in the head, want to have a very accurate handle of as many vendor prices as possible. This person must really dig deep into the costing of every component we use on the mill. Understand what the component is used for, quality requirements of that component, the vendors/manufacturers that can supply the component globally, the price level of each vendor, the manufacturing process of each vendor and how the quality is controlled at each vendor. Each of these aspects affect price, delivery, and the component that we send into the market. The person must have a real want to understand our competitors, where they procure from, how their costs are determined and ultimately what the competitor would sell their product into the market for._

**Qualifications**:Industrial engineer (or equivalent attitude/experience) with cost reduction/optimization/understanding as a passion

**Experience**:2-5 years in an optimizing environment.

**Key attributes**:Young, passion for pricing, how the pricing of a component is made up and be a solid negotiator. Someone who’s levelheaded, practical (not pushing price only and understanding value based on quality, machines used for manufacture etc), always on the search for better ideas/optimizations, curious by nature and can easily communicate internally to ensure that we are all aware of what’s happening in the market (suppliers and competitors).

**Brief description of the role**:
The role will entail the following:

- Developing a full understanding of the components that make up our products, where they fit in the machine and the critical properties of each.
- Developing an understanding of the drawings for each component so that all requirements can be discussed with manufacturers and the pricing can match our manufacture expectations.
- Understanding how our products work in the field and the critical role our equipment plays in the mineral processing industry
- Visiting manufacture facilities in SA (initially and once an assessment procedure is developed, travel overseas and do the same) and understanding the manufacture process with quality control.
- Gathering prices from the global market for all components including all mechanical components, electrical motors, variable speed drives, MCC’s, PLC’s, lubrication systems and peripheral equipment with a flowsheet.
- Understanding the technical aspects of quotes received, analysing the quote for content/inclusions/exclusions, delivery periods, understanding payment milestones and payment terms and interpreting all the detail for further use in the costing sheets
- Benchmarking the prices per province, country, territory among various manufacturers and having an intimate understanding of the cost makeup, rate per kg, historical price changes, material price increases, labour price increases and the effects this has on the pricing.
- Having prices immediately available for components and machine sizes. Where this is not available, having rates to calculate accurate costs.
- Populating our standard pricing tables and continuously comparing prices with similar tenders, orders and work we are completing.
- Developing a full costing sheet per tender/budget with cashflow predictions and based on individual vendor payment milestones and terms.
- Populating the database with prices received and comparing rates per component and per vendor we use.
- Assisting project engineers achieve and improve on the budgets set for them by providing up to date pricing intelligence per component.
- Providing new vendor suggestions to the project engineers and assisting with getting them approved.
- Gathering procurement habits/details of our competitors and understanding where they procure from.
- Reviewing the competitor’s vendors and gathering prices, proposals and technical details accordingly. Visiting these facilities and continuously gathering intelligence on what prices/processes/techniques our competitors are using.
- Develop a costing sheet for each competitor, for each machine size and for each configuration used to determine where their prices and delivery periods will be pitched.
- Gathering detail on competitors installed machines to determine any enhancements or short comings that can be well understood.
