The University of the Western Cape (UWC) has a well-established tradition of academic excellence and providing meaningful access to students from diverse backgrounds. It offers a range of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes and is geared towards strengthening its student enrolment in key areas of pressing concern for South Africa. All public South African universities have nationally approved enrolment mandates that guide enrolment across different fields and levels of study and achieving its enrolment mandate is a key strategic focus area for UWC. To this end, the University seeks to fill the position of Director of the Student Enrolment Management Unit.

A dynamic and inspiring individual is sought to lead a small, agile and collaborative team to implement student enrolment initiatives in support of realising the University’s strategic enrolment aspirations. The appointee should be an excellent communicator, able to advise, motivate and inspire current and prospective students, as well as build relationships and collaborate with key internal role-players and a range of external stakeholders and partners.

**Reporting to the Institutional Planner, the successful applicant will be responsible for the following areas**:

- Devise communication and recruitment plans to support the University’s undergraduate and strategic postgraduate enrolment mandates.
- Devise and lead the implementation of strategies to attract prospective, students across various fields and levels of study.
- Collaborate with institutional role-players such as the units for Institutional Advancement, International Relations, the Registrar’s Office and Postgraduate Studies to implement strategic enrolment initiatives.
- Manage the conception, development and implementation of creative content and promotional materials that would strengthen UWC’s position as a University of choice in the public domain.
- Initiate and oversee a range of recruitment activities on multiple digital platforms.
- Monitor and track the effectiveness of enrolment strategy implementation.
- Manage and initiate engagements in support of the University’s enrolment focus with internal and external partners, including the interface between secondary and higher education.
- Stay abreast of key national and local issues impacting the University’s enrolment mandate.

**Minimum Requirements**

**Qualification and Experience**:

- A minimum of 8 years of management experience, inclusive of strategic thinking and planning
- Sound knowledge and experience of the South African education landscape
- Proven experience in working with a wide range of individuals, stakeholders and partners.

**Required competencies (skills, knowledge and behavioural attributes)**:

- Excellent planning and execution skills
- High level of proficiency in written and verbal English
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
- Excellent managerial and team-building skills
- An aptitude for digital and new technologies
- Experience in establishing relationships and sustaining partnerships-
