Packhouse Manager

An opportunity exists for strong leader to oversee the daily operations for a vegetable packing facility in the KZN Midlands.

The role will entail overseeing all aspects of the packhouse operation but with a key focus on staff motivation and discipline for a 60 strong labour force. This is a hands-on position ensuring that orders are packed correctly, packing equipment and consumables are managed properly and that staff meet their targets. Liaison with production, stores and maintenance will be required. Working hours are from 06h45 to approximately 4pm.

**Requirements**:

- Matric (a relevant tertiary qualification is a big bonus)
- Proven staff management ability (motivation and discipline)
- At least 3-5 years of experience in a similar setting managing a large labour force
- Awareness of quality control and food safety
- Strong communication skills (English
- written and spoken, conversation Zulu a bonus)
- A sound character with a mature outlook
- Able and willing to work in a hands-on manner
- Experience operating equipment such as pallet jack and Hysters would be preferred
- Must be reliable and of sober habits with a target-driven approach
- Computer literacy and good general numeracy and writing skills.
