Environmental Officer

Environmental Officer needed to be responsible for identification and management of risks and implementation of measures/initiatives that improves the Safety and Environment in the workplace and supports the long-term business interests of the company. Also be responsible to implement and manage environmental philosophy, processes, and systems to ensure responsible business conduct by complying with all applicable legal and other requirements.

Valid Code 8 drivers’ license and own reliable vehicle.

**Position Details**:
Type: Permanent
Primary Purpose: Provide the Environmental Management service to ensure identification and management of Environmental risks within client sites.

Job description / core competencies:
Assist the SHEQ Manager with environmental aspects and impacts including the aspects and impact register.

Recording and monitoring of environmental performance indicators.

Assist management with compliance to the legal requirements (OHS Act), NEMA & other related legislation) and develop measures to address/mitigate risks.

Provide inputs into any modifications, works programs & authorizations for production facilities.

ISO 14001 implementation and certification for company.

Review and audit of environmental procedures and systems, assist in the closing of findings after the internal and external audits.

Participate in audits & inspections.

Participate in emergency exercises for the site.

Respond to all emergencies, as required.

Ensure that environmental incidents, non-conformances are reported, recorded, and investigated.

Ensure that environmental incident register is reviewed and updated.

Ensure that the has all permits, licenses, certificates, authorizations required to operate (“license to operate”).

Ensure compliance to the requirements of any permits, licenses, certificates, or authorizations.

Provide guidance to operational teams regarding environmentally safe and sustainable practices.

Any other reasonable ad hoc duty as required or requested by management.

It should be noted that individual may need to expand their roles / scope to cover the workload of other employees in times of high workloads or individuals who may be absent from work.

**Job Qualifications, Skills & Experience**:
Bachelor's Degree/B-tech in Environmental or Safety Management.

At least 3 years’ experience working in a manufacturing/ production environment performing a similar role.

ISO 14001 Implementation

Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment.

Driver’s License: Code 8.

**Salary**: R380,000.00 - R400,000.00 per year
