At APP we provide managed services for end user computing, ICT resourcing, project management and consultation with some of the biggest companies in South Africa, across multiple industries and verticals. A reputable IT giant is looking to secure a Threat Intelligence Analyst to proactively provide intelligence on cyber threats and conducting investigations and reporting on cyber-attacks. The Threat Intelligence Analyst will also be providing trusted advisory security expertise to the customer in making and recommending key decisions in the area of security, which may include security controls architectural work and operational.

**Essentials**:

- 5- 7 years of experience as a Threat Intelligence Analyst
- Minimum Bachelors in Computer Science, Information Systems or equivalent qualifications.
- Advanced IT Security certificates is essential - CISSP; CEH; GPEN; OSCP; IBM Qradar
- Ability to work under pressure and meet constantly changing timelines
- Strong security research skills on hackers, threats and the attack surface at a global and local level
- Experienced in reading network logs and analysing network packet capture data. Wireshark
- Ability to perform malicious code reverse engineering
- Expertise to utilize common sandbox technology to perform dynamic malware analysis
- Advanced skills to identify and recommend mitigations for vulnerabilities, exploits and patches
- Understanding of "attacker" methodologies and tactics, including kill-chain analysis
- Familiarity with Advance Persistent Threat groups and Hacker activity
- Knowledge of cyber security methodology and security best practices
- Familiar with Data Privacy laws and the associated security requirements

**Duties and Responsibilities**:

- Providing support to the Threat and Advanced Cyber Defence Team with reporting, management, and remediation of threats against customers.
- Conducting cyber intelligence operations including intelligence collection, tracking threat actors, identifying malicious behaviors and operations.
- Participating on Incident Response teams as threat and forensic Subject Matter Expert.
- Managing multiple investigation requests through the entire lifecycle of initiation, data collection, analysis, and data production
- Performing assessments of security profiles and correlating vulnerability data with network topology information to quickly identify risks
- Producing recommendation reports on patches, exploits and vulnerabilities
- Working closely with customers, vendors and internal resources for problem resolution and security advisories.
- Standardizing process and procedures and providing continual improvement.
- Developing and maintaining comprehensive documentation on incidents and analysis for clients and internal.
- Compiling security advisories for internal and external in document format with technical recommendations.
- Using case writing, development and refinement for detection of threats
- Proactively searching for rogue behavior, malicious attacks and suspicious activity.
- Training of junior analysts.
- Analysing threat feeds to produce daily, weekly and monthly Threat Intelligence brief and regular threat trend reporting.
