**Job Advert Summary**:
We are currently seeking a highly qualified individual for a senior position reporting directly to the COO. If you possess extensive experience in analyzing insurance risk, underwriting, and life insurance products, and demonstrate a self-driven attitude, this role could be an excellent fit for you.

**Minimum Requirements**:
Qualifications:

- Matric
- Underwriting Courses and attendance to seminars
- Post graduate qualifications will be an advantage

Experience
- At least 6 years’ experience underwriting life insurance products (individual)
- Minimum 3 years’ experience as Senior Underwriter
- Re-Insurance experience will be an advantage.
- Experience in handling intermediaries underwriting issues

**Duties and Responsibilities**:
Underwriting:

- Underwrite new and additional insurance business.
- Determine policy terms in line with underwriting policy and risk assessment.
- Coaches and mentors staff within underwriting team; all tiers of underwriters.
- Expertly applies all applicable Underwriting guidelines when making decisions with a higher level of authority.
- Underwrite highly complex and big sum assured cases.
- High competency levels in financial underwriting.
- Has thorough knowledge of industry laws, governance, and regulations (Underwriting policies, LTIA, ASISA protocols)
- Provide input to underwriting policies development.
- Managing the relationship with Re-Insurance Partner
- Working closely with Reinsurance partner to monitor and manage Reinsurance Risk, Pricing, Mandates and Policies

Sales Support
- Establish and maintain relationships with the Sales teams.
- Assist Sales with escalated queries.
- Conduct intermediary workshops around underwriting issues
- Be available to assist Sales with underwriting support which may include travelling to meet with clients.
- Attend Sales roadshows and Risk Seminars to provide technical and underwriting support

Service:

- Draft letters and correspondence to members.
- Directly communicate with brokers and Sales
- Improve overall communication in underwriting (e.g. adverse decision information to clients)
- Makes recommendations to the Head of Underwriting to improve service in underwriting approach.
- Participate in projects geared at improving underwriting experience.
- Improve underwriting correspondence templates.
