**SHIFT MANAGER**

**LICHTENBURG
**Epko Oil Seed Crushing (Pty) Ltd is a progressive company involved in the procurement and processing of**
**oilseeds, the sales of vegetable oil and related products. The plant, with a capacity of processing 220k/MT**
**sunflower seeds and processes which equates to 25% of the total sunflower seed harvest in South Africa, is**
**situated in Lichtenburg.
**PURPOSE OF POSITION**:
The purpose of this position is to ensure that production targets are met, while ensuring that all processes under the control

of the Shift Manager functions optimally, efficiently and safely. Key responsibilities include the building of competence, staff

management, SHE compliance, shift based maintenance and repair of equipment. Key performance indicators are:
Production targets, product quality, man management, training, SHE compliance, maintenance and inter-shift relations.

**RESPONSIBILITIES**:
ensure SHE compliance to procedures, risk assessments, inspections and behavioural conduct of staff under your
control;

comply to OHS Act “Major Hazardous Installation regulations”;

perform incident accident investigation and corrective/preventative behaviour;

ensure production parameters are met in terms quality, yields and throughput;

maintain and/or restore machine condition to ensure machine/equipment availability;

plan staff availability for production, leave and training in a manner that will ensure that the shift is always sufficiently
staffed to man the shift;

perform problem solving and implement efficient corrective/repair activities to ensure process availability and integrity;

plan and control maintenance activities performed during maintenance days and annual maintenance shuts;

implement on-the-job training to ensure succession planning within own and other shifts;

maintain production run-charts and records;

control variable expenses on shift - report on any deviances;

perform all administrative work;

supervision and managing personnel on shift, maintaining motivation, discipline and making sure tasks are clarified and
executed to standard.

**QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS**:

must be in possession of a Grade 12 Certificate;

relevant technical qualification will count towards recommendation;

be in possession of a valid driver’s license;

must be willing to work shifts and when required standby.

**KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE: **

gained at least 4 years experience with boilers flameproof equipment, hydraulic equipment, separators and managing a
production process;

thorough knowledge of safety requirements and procedures in a factory setup;

3 years supervisory/management experience in a factory/production environment.
