- Vice President Group Accounting
- Objective of the job:
- To manage the preparation of Group financial statements across two locations of MBSA for internal and statutory purposes in accordance with IFRS and local GAAP. To safeguard the assets and reputation of MBSA by implementing and maintaining any necessary controls incl. ICS. Manage the sales and legal entity controlling functions for MBSA and steer business decisions. Ensure appropriate implementation and compliance of controlling processes according to rules and regulations provided by law and internal guidelines for all relevant controlling transactions. Manage the insurance function, and the maintenance contracts.
- All activities will be done in compliance with the Company's Integrity Code and other relevant policies.
- Main:
- Accounting: Prepare the financial statements for MBSA (reporting entity 1360) and the MBSA Group for both internal and statutory purposes in accordance with the rules and regulations provided by law and internal accounting guidelines. Support in the preparation of both the Financial Statements and regulatory reporting items for the Johannesburg Stock Exchange. Support the MBSA Audit Committee in regards to all Financial Reporting Matters within the Group. Ensure that the department responsible for maintenance contract administration is highly effective.
- Sales Controlling MBC & VANS: Ensure maximum of group contribution for all new and used vehicles sales. Discounts, margins, pricing and specifications for new and existing products and business models are assessed and approved prior to communication. Ensure correct interpretation of accounting standard and methods as well as internal guidelines and local and international law and compliance standards. All risks with regards to non-standard sales agreement are evaluated and provided for and correctly reflected in the financials. Close collaboration between Sales, Aftersales, the Agent network and all common functions. Have an oversight in regards to annual planning processes and target setting measuring including all budget forecasts. Monitor correctness and accuracy of Plan to Plan, Plan to Actuals. Review and comment analysis, benchmarks, calculations (interpret correctness and variances of the data) provided to management and steer decisions actively. Ensure that month end processes are carried out timely /appropriately and give guidance if processes are either inefficient or ineffective.
- Manage the cbFC HUB, financial cost reduction and data quality. Research, develop and implement processes as IT enhancements which can contribute towards improved data quality and cost reduction. Continuous improvement and stabilization of processes by operating the cbFC Hub effectively at MBSA.
- G&A controlling: Support the manager with direction and decisions for coordinating and ensuring on-time delivery and accuracy of group reporting for planning processes, and financial reporting as a base for management information. Review of the outcomes regarding maintenance of master data and financial information derived in SAP and planning systems; Ensure that Internal Control over Financial Reporting (ICFR) and Foreign Corruption Practises Act (FCPA) requirements are adhered to. Have oversight and review the results for monthly/annual overheads and investment plans and ensure that the results are accurately reported, and corrective actions are initiated if required. Manage the process for appropriate implementation and compliance to accounting processes according to rules and regulations provided by law and internal guidelines for all relevant accounting transactions. Ensure that the monthly reporting of sales and stock figures in the various systems (central MBAG) for all business units are accurate and performed in a timeous manner.
- Cash flow: Coordinate monthly cash flow (actuals and forecast) for MBSA with all key stakeholders in Controlling, Accounting, Treasury, East London, Mercedes-Benz Financial Services (MBFS). Facilitate the setting of targets and monitoring of actuals with regard to overheads and investments followed by active counter measures if not in line with plans.
- Corporate Governance: Manage corporate governance and compliance for FMC in-terms of all guidelines and policies (including but not limited to ICS and Compliance).
- Projects: Provide necessary accounting and cbFC support for all internal and central projects initiated at MBSA.
- Insurance: Lead the Insurance function at MBSA to ensure full alignment with the policies and procedures of both MBAG and the MB Insurance Services.
- IT: Improve and stabilize existing and new IT landscape in a cost efficient and streamlined manner.
