Shotblast Operator

**Position Purpose / Objective**

The Shotblast Operator will be responsible for ensuring that components are cleaned from slack by means of a Shotblast gun.

**Duties and Responsibilities**
- Receiving instructions from the Product Manager or referring to the production priority list in order to determine the appropriate order of materials to be loaded on shot blast trolleys.
- Scanning the shot blast operation.
- Loading the relevant component onto the shot blast trolley.
- Assisting the overhead crane driver in pushing the shot blast trolley inside the shot blast booth.
- Ensuring that the correct PPE requirements in the shot Blast area is adhered to at all stages prior to entering the shot blast booth.
- Using the shot blast gun to clean material from slack.
- Pushing the shot blast trolley out upon completion of the operation.
- Sweeping the shot blast material (inside and outside the shot blast booth) lying on the floor on the conveyor.
- Requesting assistance from the overhead crane driver to turn the component in order for shot blasting to be done on the other side.
- Scanning the job out upon completion.
- Signing off the route pack next to the shot blast operation.
- Ensure that blast profile readings are taken and recorded in every shift and deviations are reported.
- Ensure that blast grit is filled up to the necessary levels for effective and efficient operation of the process.
- Ensure that all breakdowns and blasting process interruptions are reported on time for maintenance to address with minimum loss of production time.
- Ensuring that proper housekeeping is maintained in the area.
- Participate Lean, 5S and Safety culture.
- Ensuring that repair parts are marked with the appropriate B number or project number.
- Taking exceptional care to ensure that all Shot Blast practices are executed safety and in compliance with the relevant SOPs.
- You will be required to perform any additional and lawful duties that might not be listed in the job description, but which fall within your grade or grades below as and when required.
- Ensuring compliance to QMS standards.

**Minimum Requirements**
- Competed Grade 12.
- Valid overhead crane license would be advantageous.
- Code 8 Drivers license would be advantage.
- At least 2 years’ experience in either sand blasting or shot blasting operations.
- The individual should be always aware of his/her surroundings.
- Thorough understanding of the safety hazards relevant to the shot blast booth.
- Willingness to work shifts and be medically fit.
