Shipping Manager

Purpose:
To perform full management function and to control a fleet of company s vehicle

Roles and responsibilities:
**The successful incumbent for this position will be responsible for**:

- Plans and executes the export shipping schedule according to the approved business plan in terms of volumes and grades across the various export corridors in terms of road, rail, and shipment sizes about the marketing off-take agreements.
- Directs the shipping department in the preparation of all the required export documentation, including a letter of credit documents, for the export of the Company’s products.
- Liaises with all export-related stakeholders, i.e., Transnet Freight Rail, road transport providers, terminals (both Transnet and private terminals), shipowners, ship operators, brokers, agents, stevedores, and sampling companies as required.
- Overall accountability for efficiently loading manganese onto ships and the minimum incurrence of demurrage through maximization of loading efforts.
- Adherence to, and enforcement of compliance with various shipping compliance and other statutory requirements.
- Accurately and timeously completes monthly export data and financial transport calculations for internal use.

**Requirements**:

- Degree in Logistics or Supply Chain Management
- Minimum of 7 years’ in a Logistics focused role
- Minimum of 5 years in a Shipping Management position
- Knowledge of Export and Import procedures
- Must have sound knowledge of Warehouse Management Systems

**Salary**: From R40.00 per month

Ability to commute/relocate:

- Atlantis, Western Cape: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (required)

**Education**:

- Diploma (preferred)

**Experience**:

- Shipping management: 5 years (preferred)
- export and import procedure: 3 years (preferred)
- logistics focused: 3 years (preferred)
- warehouse: 3 years (preferred)

License/Certification:

- electronics and appliance exposure (preferred)
