Position Title: Painter

Number of Positions: 1 Position

Reporting To: Production Supervisor

Reporting Relationship: Operations Manager

Essential Duties & Responsibilities: Include the following (Other duties may be assigned)
- Prepare surfaces for painting by washing, cleaning, sanding, and masking.
- Able to use a wide range of washing, sanding, and masking tools and chemicals (wire brushes, art blades, mixing of washing & thinning chemicals, etc).
- Select and mix water-based paints to match colours and specifications
- Able to use measuring equipment (Gloss meter, thickness gauge, viscosity cups, scratch test, etc)
- Diligently Record painting parameters and daily progress information onto production floor tracking documents
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace, worktables, and spray booth (daily and monthly deep cleaning), including proper disposal of waste materials
- Ensure that all safety regulations are followed, including the use of personal protective equipment
- Perform routine maintenance on spray guns and other equipment, using solvents, wire brushes, cloths, wax coatings, etc.
- Complete in-process and post process quality control checks, through various subprocess, to ensure that finished products meet specifications.
- Able to communicate, discuss and compile together previous paint experience in relation to current painting processes - to feedback for quality improvements.
- Able to carry out rework/touch-up of paint surfaces to meet quality requirements.
- Carry out problem solving and follow-implement corrective actions for paint defects.

Job Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

- Ability to plan and manage from a 30 day to 1-year time span
- Ability to organize and manage multiple priorities and re-prioritize as required
- Demonstrate leadership skills in supplier/peer interactions; with the ability to influence others, along with participate in team and follow instructions.
- Strategic in finding cost effective solutions to maximize efficiency of entire purchasing process
- Possesses knowledge of material work planning and methods in engineering processes and procedures
- Possess effective negotiation skills
- Accurate and efficient verbal and written communication skills, ability to work with wide range of personalities in a high task load/project-oriented environment
- Manages and coordinates all necessary follow-up steps for closure

**Qualifications**:

- Trade Painter, with certification and experience.
- Certificate or diploma in Fitter or Electrical would be an advantage

. Education/Experience/Skills
- A qualified and experienced - proven spray painter.
- Experience with Water-Based Paint and painting in automotive/aviation grade spray booths; amongst other variants of paints.
- Ability to read and interpret technical documents and instructions.
- Preferable a graduate of a paint training school/internship.
- Experience within a manufacturing - production environment.
- Knowledge of colour matching and blending techniques, along with surface cleaning, treatment & preparation, masking, and protection.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong attention to detail and quality
- Physical ability to work in a spray booth, whilst wearing the correct protective PPE.
- Excellent hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity
- Familiarity with relevant safety procedures and regulations
