Ammonia Technician

Our client is looking for the expertise of an Ammonia Technician to join their team.

**Role Purpose**

The Ammonia Technician is responsible for the safe and efficient maintenance and operation of ammonia systems in industrial premises.

This includes the installation, inspection, repair, replacement, testing and commissioning of ammonia systems and components.

Must have a good understanding of the regulations and requirements surrounding ammonia handling and storage, as well as the relevant safety procedures.

In addition, the Ammonia Technician must have a good knowledge of the systems and components used to operate and maintain the ammonia systems. The Technician must also be able to troubleshoot and diagnose problems and be able to work with other tradespeople and staff when required.

**Duties**
- Carry out routine maintenance and repairs on ammonia refrigeration systems
- Carry out safety checks and inspections on ammonia refrigeration systems
- Carry out modifications and upgrades to ammonia refrigeration systems
- Troubleshoot and diagnose faults on ammonia refrigeration systems
- Install, test and commission ammonia refrigeration systems

**Requirements**:

- Knowledge of operating and troubleshooting ammonia refrigeration systems
- Knowledge of ammonia safety regulations
- Ability to read and interpret ammonia piping diagrams
- Ability to work in a team environment

**Qualifications**
- N6 Engineering Studies
- Recognised Trade test Qualification or National Diploma in Engineering
- Grade 12 or equivalent
- 3 Years’ experience in Food Factory Environment
- Trade tested Refrigeration Certificate + Ammonia & Freon
- Refrigeration Qualification R1, R2 & AC1 & AC2
- Red Seal Certification
- Advanced Experience in Installation and Repair
- Basic knowledge of SANS 10147
- Basic knowledge of PER 734
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Own Transport and Valid Driver’s License

**Salary**: R 16 000 - R 18 000 CTC
