**PURPOSE**

Responsible for the planning, selecting, and buying of merchandise. Duties include market research, competitor analysis, product evaluations, testing, monitoring purchase orders, and creating reports for the management team. Sourcing and ordering materials, hired in plant and site services. Logistical planning of deliveries and services to accommodate the site management teams. Identifying and negotiating cost-down opportunities within the supply chain. Possess strong industry knowledge with the ability to forecast market trends and perform consumer research.

**DETAILED RESPONSIBILITY**

**Purchasing/Orders**
- Creation of purchase orders on the accounting system and ensuring the appropriate management approval is received
- Placing and tracking orders from the placement up to the final arrival
- Customer backorders are ordered timeously and ensure customer backorders are issued by a warehouse
- Reporting on the outstanding Purchase orders
- Ensure order accuracy
- Servicing stock re-order levels
- Obtain weekly accurate forecasts from sales and projects and use these forecasts for inventory planning on bulk orders

**General Duties**
- Performing the procurement for all company items - office, product, and services requirements
- Sourcing various suppliers to get the best pricing
- Negotiation of pricing with various suppliers
- Create item codes and descriptions based on the current procedure
- Arrange all local transport requirements with the sales department
- Coordination of all imports of products sourced
- Assist with all exports to customer
- Assist the sales department with any stock queries relating to procurement
- Ensure that adequate stock levels are maintained to service customers
- Inventory monitoring and reporting to both internal & external stakeholders
- Monitoring and reporting on Supplier performance
- Approve landed cost for all imports for final approval
- Prepare freight estimations for Customer enquiries (both internally and externally)
- Advising on best freight options per Customer enquiry
- Handling and raising all product buyouts received from Services Department
- Maintain local supplier relations
- Oversee and manage the assistant buyer

**Admin**
- Prepare inventory analysis data on a weekly basis for management including as and when required
- Perform any ad hoc duties deemed appropriate by the Financial Manager
- Adhere to ISO standards for all Procurement procedures and policies.
- Prepare and report on aging stock on a monthly basis

**Experience & Qualifications**
- Relevant Certificate/Diploma in Purchasing and Supply
- 5 years of buyer experience.
- Proficient in MS Office
- BuildSmart experience Proven client engagement experience
- Experience managing expectations when balancing alternatives against business and financial constraints
- Assertive with client satisfaction orientation
- Demonstrate adequate team leadership, motivation ability, and business acumen
