Associate Economist

The main purpose of this position is to collect, compile and analyse capital markets and non-bank financial institutions’ statistics.

Detailed Description
- Collect, compile and analyse statistics related to the capital markets and non-bank financial institutions.
- Check the accuracy of data received, validate source data and liaise frequently with respondents.
- Enhance and maintain the database.
- Analyse data and statistics using business intelligence tools to identify trends and present analytical findings in written reports, including graphs and tables.
- Provide internal and external statistical information.
- Assist with presentations as required.
- Perform general administrative and ad-hoc tasks required.

Job Requirements
- an Honours’ degree in Economics, Finance, Statistics or an equivalent qualification; and
- two to five years’ experience in the field of economic analysis, financial economics or accounting.

Additional requirements include:

- an affinity for statistics;
- insight and knowledge regarding the international manuals;
- ability to programme in “R” or related open source software;
- being task-orientated, with time management skills to operate in a deadline-driven environment that often requires working under pressure without compromising on quality;
- ability to work independently as well as within a team/project environment;
- good report writing skills;
- taking initiative and problem-solving skills;
- good communication and interpersonal skills; and
- ability to pay attention to detail.
