**Dean/Executive Dean (Teaching & Learning) JB2628**
**Johannesburg, Durban OR Cape Town**
**Negotiable/Market Related**

The Dean/Executive Dean would be responsible for the academic Development, student services and support, learning innovation, and all aspects of Teaching and Learning across all Institutions. The Dean provides leadership, mentoring and focus on continuous improvement in teaching and learning, assessments, academic and administrative support and library information services in all faculties that inspire and assure lecturer and academic development, the evolution of innovation curricular and pedagogy for both contact and distance delivery, high levels of student engagement and support and a culture and service devoted to the student learning experience, student retention, student success, work integrated learning and employability.

**Educational Requirements**:
PhD or a Doctorate in Education is preferred, but a Master of Education degree is minimum requirement.
At least five years Academic Management experience in higher education
A proven teaching portfolio with academic operations experience.
Innovation in pedagogy and experience in online, contact, blended and distance learning.
Experience in dealing with regulatory affairs and academic quality assurance processes within a higher education environment.

**Duties and Responsibilities**:
Teaching and learning strategy, leadership and Governance
Strategic input into teaching and learning strategy for both distance and contact delivery
Lead and manage development of innovative pedogagy, curriculum and assessment standards and competence across all faculties and brands
Student support, retention, experience and success
Responsible for the formulation of student retention strategy and the implementation of that across brands in collaboration with the other Deans and site academic managers
Academic Management and Operations
Management and mentorship of portfolio Heads of T & L
Academic development
Academic staff and teaching portfolios
Development of academic staff and teaching portfolios
Management of WIL and library information services
Lead, manage and mentor the group portfolio Head of WIL and Library Information Services

**Qualifications**:
