**Job description**

**Purpose of role**

Assists the toddler teacher, who is responsible for the growth, development, and overall well-being of children in their class, with all their duties.

**Responsibilities**
- Assume educational and caring responsibilities for children in their class, including nappy-changing.
- Promote feelings of security and trust in children through maintaining a safe, loving and fun environment where children feel excited to explore and learn.
- Assist the teacher to use the HighScope curriculum and its learner-centred approach to plan activities which stimulate and engage children at the developmentally appropriate level.
- Manage all stock of resources and equipment in the classroom.
- Manage the setup of the classroom between different activities during the day.
- Participate in regular professional development sessions with colleagues.
- Work positively and collaboratively with other staff members, including to plan activities for the classes as a team.
- Reflect on their work regularly, leading their personal growth strategy.
- Other responsibilities across classes as necessary.
- Cleaning classroom and assisting with keeping the school clean
- Nappy changing
- Note: this is a physically challenging role and requires the teacher to stand for large portions of the day, bend, run, sit on the floor, participate in playground activities, and generally play with the children._

**Qualifications**
- ECD qualification or studying towards an ECD qualification would be an advantage
- Nursing or First Aid would be an advantage
- Clear criminal record

**Experience**
- 2 years working with children between the age of 6 months and 6 years
