Duties/PligteProcurement:- Handling all procurement for the SSAB, including obtaining quotations, generating purchase orders as well as goods receipts, and handling queries;-
- Maintaining the procurement records and database;-
- Writing and reviewing procurement SOPs.-
Logistics:- Coordinating shipping/transport schedules;-
- Maintaining time and temperature records of the transported bio-specimens;-
- Ensuring quality standards and strict compliance with IATA regulations and best practices;-
- Communicating with clients and vendors/couriers;Recordkeeping and managing documents from Transport Authorities;-
- Updating the database, including datasets accompanying bio-specimens;-
- Writing and reviewing logistics SOPs.-
Asset management:Maintaining equipment records and managing preventative maintenance schedules ensuring all equipment services remain current;-
- Managing the annual SU-asset registry;-
- Recordkeeping and database updates;-
- Writing and reviewing asset management SOPs.-
Tissue block inventory management:Overseeing tissue block inventory;-
- Retrieving slides and wax blocks from the archive;-
- Liaising with pathologists, research nurses and SSAB team for specimen diagnosis validation;-
- Recordkeeping and database updates.-
Routine laboratory operations:Compiling roster for routine temperature monitoring and on-site freezer maintenance;-
- Handling liquid nitrogen deliveries, specimen reception, and storage.-
- Recordkeeping and database updates;-
- Controlling reagent and consumables stock.-
General administration:Providing administrative support to SSAB team including accreditation of the SSAB Update records and database;-
- Keeping minutes of meetings;-
- Ad hoc projects;-
- Writing and reviewing relevant SOPs.-
Continuous professional development:Ensuring current GCP and IATA certification.-
After hours:- Rostered for emergency response and emergency back-up.Job Requirements/Pos Vereistes

- BSc or B.Tech or an equivalent qualification in medical science, molecular biology, microbiology, virology, genetics, cell biology and/or biotechnology, or a related field;-
- At least three years' work experience in a university and / or laboratory environment.Recommendation/AanbevelingBSc (Hons) or MSc;-
- A strong background in medical science and/or molecular biology;-
- Experience in and interest in a research environment;-
- Experience with the Stellenbosch University's TeraTerm financial system;Motivated with strong organisational and interpersonal skills, attention to detail and record keeping;-
- The ability to work independently and to take initiative, but also to work as part of a team.
