**The role**:
BBD is looking for a senior bookkeeper / accountant who will be responsible for:

- Processing accounting records onto a computerised accounting system resulting in an accurate and complete set of books for the entire BBD Group, inclusive of the Netherlands, UK and India
- Performing bank reconciliations
- Processing and reconciling of petty cash and credit card / procurement card control accounts
- Keeping of a fixed asset register
- Managing general journals such as depreciation, provisions, interest, salaries, etc.
- Processing journal entries including provisions, accruals, etc.
- Processing foreign exchange transactions
- Reconciling debtors and creditors statements
- Correcting accounting treatment on disposal of assets (PPE)
- Analysing the resulting trial balance for mistakes / deviations and discussing the results with the team
- Ability to record books up to balance sheet
- Calculation of PAYE / UIF / SDL levies and VAT
- Completion of statutory returns for UIF / SDL / PAYE / VAT
- Preparations of payroll
- Reconciliations of input / output VAT to annual financial statements and monthly trial balances
- Staff loans and interest calculations
- Preparing and distributing monthly management reports
- Managing budgets
- Performing basic administrative duties as needed on a day to day basis
- Any other bookkeeping activities and general administration duties

**Requirements**:

- Six years plus relevant accounting experience
- BCom degree or equivalent accounting degree or studying towards a degree
- Good communication skills
- Strong report writing skills
- An understanding of BBBEE generic codes and compilation of data
- Time management
- Problem solving skills
- Organisational skills
- Strong accounting knowledge
- Decisive and accurate
- Ability to prioritise
- Ability to work under pressure in a deadline-driven environment

**Required Computer Package Experience**:

- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word at intermediate level, which includes pivot tables and advanced formulas
- Pastel Evolution an advantage
- Payroll Sage People an advantage
