Unit Manager

Key Areas of Responsibility:

- Irrigation

Managing plant micronutrition through the irrigation systems.
Training and oversight of the irrigation and data monitoring team.
General water management.
Managing maintenance iro irrigation system, both bulk and in-block systems.
- Harvest Management

Performing and supervision of flower counts, and overall harvest estimation (vineyard, flowers, raspberries and blue berries).
Training and oversight of the data monitoring teams.
Managing and supervision of the cutting/pruning and harvest processes.
Managing of the harvesting process and the housekeeping of blocks during harvesting.
Insect management, including controls over insecticides.
General management of plants in the blocks.
Purchases, Stores and Supplies
Coordination with System Administrator regarding purchases and orders.
Requesting of quotations
Logistical arrangements regarding purchases
Verifying that goods/services have been received.
Design, implement, measure and report on store/warehouse controls and processes, regarding:
Tools
Fuel
Herbicides
Fertigation etc.
Maintain good supplier relationships
Safekeeping of chemicals.
- Employees and Wages

Maintain a positive and constructive relationship with employees.
Training and coaching of employees, as required.
Assistance with equity compliance and reporting
Assistance with wage input information, including hours worked
Employee queries
- General

Computer literacy
Attention to detail, identifying, prioritizing and solving of farm issues/problems effectively.
Ensuring the effective use of farm equipment, avoiding un-necessary actions/trips etc.
Administrative tasks as required
Complete all assigned tasks in a timely and efficient manner.
Works Area to be neat and well managed.
Any other reasonable instruction that may be required

Desired Experience & Qualification
Relevant University degree
3-5 years’ experience in a similar designation
