The Language Education Department seeks to advance the Faculty of Education’s commitment to research-driven service to the basic education (school) sector via the promotion of multilingual, dialogical and decolonising approaches to language teacher education.
- Facilitate learning and teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, particularly in teaching English Method at Foundation Phase and/or Senior-FET Phase
- Conduct research and publish in the field of language education
- Undertake postgraduate supervision
- Undertake curriculum development and assessment
- Community engagement and outreach
- Administration and serving on committees
- Engage in national and international networks

**Minimum Requirements**

**Minimum Requirements (**_for Senior Lecturer level_**)**
- A Doctoral qualification or equivalent in English/Language Education, or a related field.
- Demonstrated experience in facilitating learning and teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, preferably in English Method or a related field
- A good research and publications record (comprising relevant peer reviewed and/or accredited journal articles, books or book chapters in reputable publications)
- A record of successful postgraduate supervision

**Minimum Requirements (**_for Lecturer level_**)**
- A Master's qualification or equivalent in English/Language Education, or a related field.
- Teaching / lecturing experience
- Experience in facilitating learning and teaching at undergraduate level, preferably in English Method or a related field
- A relevant and accredited research and publications record

**The following would be added advantages and/or recommendations**:

- Proficiency in or ability to work with South African languages (particularly isiXhosa and Afrikaans)
