Requirements:

- Grade 12 and 2 years’ experience in a kitchen service environment
- Knowledge of food preparation and cooking techniques
- Knowledge of kitchen and catering equipment to be utilised
- Knowledge of volume food production
- Knowledge of required hygiene standards
- Good communication skills
- Ability to speak, read and understand English
- Reliable, honest, polite and punctual
- Control and supervise the running of the kitchen, ensuring that the preparation of the food complies with the required standards and dietary requirements

Key Outputs:

- Ensure that all meals and special diets are correctly prepared, cooked and served as per the company standards
- Ensure that all foodstuffs are used correctly so that wastage is kept to a minimum
- Ensure that the preparation of all food is hygienic and that a “clean as you go” discipline is adhered to
- Control stock by locking storerooms and manage daily issues
- Ensure hygiene and safety practices are maintained as per the company policy
- Ensure that all kitchen staff are neatly attired in the correct uniform
- Manager all the operations of the kitchen and use own initiative in the absence of the manager.
